From Friday, June 4, to Sunday, June 6, Nebraska Children’s Home Society (NCHS) Foundation brings Sand in the City® to the parking lot of Omaha's Qwest Center

Join us just north of the Old Market in Parking Lot G (10th and Capital Street). More than 350 tons of sand will transform a portion of downtown Omaha into a sandy beach.  Sand sculpting teams will build amazing 15-ton sand sculptures. Corporate teams and architects from throughout the city will be a part of the sculpting competition on Friday, June 4th, 2010 from11 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by awards.

Saturday and Sunday’s Family Fun Weekend is free to the public on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family Fun Weekend includes opportunities to view the sculptures along with the Kid Zone, featuring interactive games for kids of all ages, face painting, a gigantic sand play area, and prizes.

The event helps raise awareness and funds for the programs of Nebraska Children’s Home Society, which include statewide unplanned pregnancy, parenting and adoption services, in-home services, foster care and child care.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Be a part of Sand in the City! Volunteers are needed to help with sand pound up the morning of Thursday, June 3 and for a wide variety of duties during the event on all day Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6. Interested?
